BowralBowral used to be the place for Oldies to come for tea and scones. Not so much anymore. Sydney-siders are fast realizing it’s a short trip down the Freeway to a country escape. The Southern Highlands region is becoming a food and wine haven with local cool climate wineries producing award winning red and white wines and local produce ranging from olives to beef to raspberries to poultry! Check out the regular farmers markets to sample some great local wares. If it’s antique’s you are into then you will be in heaven. There’s an antique trail that runs from Mittagong to Bundanoon and you’re sure to pick up something unique. Boutiques, bookstores, coffee, food and great pubs; It’s all on offer in the Southern Highlands. |

Brigadoon is Bundanoon Scottish FestivalBundanoon becomes the legendary town of Brigadoon in April every year – attracting a crowd of over 20,000 people it has become the biggest festival in the area. It's a celebration of Scottish culture in Australia, there are many pipe bands, Scottish dancing, highland games, agricultural and farm events, dog shows and haggis. |

Cellar DoorsThe Southern Highlands is becoming renowned as a cool climate wine region. There are at least a dozen wineries with Cellar Doors open to the public, indeed one of them, Centennial Vineyards is just up the road from the hotel. |

Mount Gibraltar LookoutsBowral is overshadowed by Mount Gibraltar, which rises to 861 metres (2,820 ft) above sea level and has lookouts over Bowral and neighbouring villages and towns such as Mittagong, Moss Vale and the ranges near Bundanoon. Near some of the lookouts are picnic and barbecue areas. The mountain also serves as residential area and bushland reserve. |

Tulip TimeFor the past fifty years of so over 100,000 tulips and 25,000 annuals are planted throughout the Southern Highlands for the annual Tulip Time Festival. More than a garden festival, Tulip Time now includes a program of events for the whole family including a street parade, concert in Corbett Gardens, Open Garden scheme, House and Garden Expo and market stalls. |
